Surge of Support Follows Orlando Shootings

As a training and support center for many crewmembers, Orlando is our second home, so the June 2016 shootings affected many crewmembers deeply.

JetBlue’s Community Crisis Response Team immediately engaged, accounting for all Orlando-based crewmembers, providing grief counselors, supporting blood donations, and pledging $100,000 in support through the OneOrlando Fund. We provided free travel to and from Orlando for victims and their families, deployed over 80 Care Team Members to provide support to family members traveling on JetBlue, and staffed a JetBlue Customer Assistance desk at the City of Orlando Family Assistance Center.

Support overflowed, and we are proud of the many individual acts of kindness demonstrated by our crewmembers. On one flight to Orlando, crewmembers passed around a note, inviting everyone on board to sign it for a grieving grandmother. When the flight landed, the PA system announced, "JetBlue stands with Orlando," and after a moment of silence, every single person on the flight stopped to offer their condolences.

“Through our customers’ humanity today, and through the generosity of this wonderful company I am so grateful to work for, I am hopeful that someday soon we can rally together to make the world a safer place for all.”
