Flights Donated to Public Service Professionals after Dallas Shootings

JetBlue has a long history of supporting public service professionals in our hometown of New York as well as numerous places that JetBlue crewmembers live and work. It’s not a service that we take lightly, or that we do for publicity. We simply believe that these initiatives are the right thing to do. With about 10% of JetBlue crewmembers coming from fire and emergency response, or military and law enforcement backgrounds, we respect these individuals for the service they provide their communities.

On July 8, 2016, the morning of the Dallas shootings, JetBlue brought together our Community Crisis Response Team. They checked on the safety of locally based crewmembers and connected with government officials to see how JetBlue could be of assistance.

As a result, JetBlue provided flights for law enforcement officials so they could attend services for the police officers killed in the line of duty. We also stood ready to offer support for any families affected by the violence.

“Change has to start somewhere, and I believe it starts with each of us as individuals making a conscious decision to care more and to empathize more, and to be sensitive to things that affect us differently.”
